Jessica Maffitt focuses her practice on immigration law, including deportation defense cases, immigration-sensitive criminal defense cases, family and humanitarian cases, and immigration appeals cases. She also works with victims of immigration-related employment discrimination. Jessica also practices criminal, appellate, and juvenile law in the State of Iowa court system.
Jessica Maffitt is committed to advocating for immigrants. She fights for immigrant’s rights through her work at Benzoni Law Office and through her volunteering. Jessica volunteers in the immigrant community through conducting educational programs for incarcerated immigrants and volunteering with a non-profit immigration clinic. Immigrants are often taken advantage of because they don’t know what legal protections they have under the laws of the United States. By teaching immigrants about their rights, Jessica helps people advocate for themselves and stand up for just treatment regardless of a person’s race or immigration status.
